Str8Up House
A 5,500 sq ft. lodge is used to function as an urban gathering place where trained and authentic mentors help develop the next generation. This lodge has grown into a place where the overarching emphasis and weekly activities revolve around positive and engaging group activities, after-school tutoring, athletic competitions, and character development studies. Sunday and Wednesday nights are our big nights where, on average, 50-60 kids for constructive activities, positive life messages, tutoring, and a Str8 Up family meal.
Str8Up Youth Camp (formerly Leinert Gym Camp)
This unique 27 acre camp, in the middle of the city, is a great escape for youth who are constantly surrounded by concrete. This property is an oasis in the city with a spring fed lake utilized for water activities such as swimming, kayaking, and fishing. There is also a gymnasium with a full basketball court as well as many open fields for games and horseback riding. The long term vision for this piece of property is that it would continue to be developed into an epicenter of positive outdoor adventure and recreation for youth in our program and the greater Indianapolis area.
Forthcoming Advancement and Guidance Center
This facility is being converted from a residential home to a guidance center. We hope to use the renovated space, which is adjacent to the clubhouse on Grandview, to help students investigate and pursue secondary education options, trade school or military. We desire to offer therapeutic counseling in the future and house our offices there as well!
Mary’s Place
This home on the camp property was formerly the home of Walt and Mary Leinert, the original developers of the 27 acres. Their place is in process to become a retreat center where smaller groups can get away and fellowship and in turn create an income stream for Str8Up. It has been through demo and awaits a remodel as time, resources and volunteers become available!
Transportation
Our transportation is a key component to making our club nights and camps a reality. With two buses, two SUV’s and one minivan…we are able to help transport many students both to and from our events. There are some great conversations had on those routes!
